Privacy Policy for Creators Lens Companion

This policy explains what the Creators Lens Companion browser extension collects, why, and where it goes. It is written to be read, not to hide behind legal language. If anything here is unclear, email bryan@creatorlens.ai.

What the extension is

Creators Lens Companion is a Chrome extension that adds a ranked panel to Instagram and TikTok profile pages. It sorts a creator's posts by viral outlier score, lets you download videos, and, when connected to a Creators Lens account, lets you save posts, track channels, and recreate winning posts in your own brand voice inside the Creators Lens app.

When you click Scan or Harvest more, the extension uses post data available in your signed-in Instagram or TikTok session. Paired Instagram scans can also use Creators Lens servers and shared cached results. Eligible accounts use server-side Meta Business Discovery; supported fallback flows can continue through your browser session. The extension does not log in on your behalf.

Data collected and why

The extension handles the following data:

• Post metadata. For posts available on the profile you are viewing, the extension reads post ids, urls, captions, view counts, like counts, comment counts, and timestamps. This is what powers the outlier ranking and, when you are paired, keeps your tracked channels populated in the Creators Lens app.
• Profile metadata and images. The extension can read creator profile details from page data. Instagram profile metadata requires a matching username and explicit public status. Available fields include username, display name, biography, follower and following counts, post total, verification status and profile image. Exact Instagram header counts can supplement a confirmed public profile; rounded counts are not guessed. Profile metadata is uploaded after you start a scan, and profile images are uploaded as image bytes. TikTok profile details use its existing page-data capture.
• Background metric updates. While paired, engagement counts for known posts can be refreshed from data the page delivers during normal browsing, without starting another scan.
• Thumbnail image bytes. Small thumbnail images for posts are uploaded to Creators Lens servers so that tracked channels and your saved posts show the correct preview images. A background tick, running roughly every five minutes only while an Instagram or TikTok tab is open, uploads thumbnails that are still missing.
• Pairing token. When you connect the extension to your Creators Lens account, a pairing token is stored locally in the browser. It authenticates your requests to the Creators Lens API and associates saved posts, tracked channels, recreations and upload activity with your account.
• Local caches. The extension stores per-profile caches of the posts it has already harvested, so it does not re-read the same data every time you open a profile.
• Rate-limit log. The extension keeps a local log for browser pagination, with rolling limits of 120 pages per hour and 600 per day. Server harvesting, passive metric updates and image maintenance use separate controls.

Where data goes

• Creators Lens servers. Captured post data, profile metadata and image bytes are sent to the application API at app.creatorlens.ai. Creator data is stored in shared caches and can populate multiple users' tracked channels. Saved-library actions remain associated with the requesting account.
• Cloudflare R2 storage. Thumbnail and profile images are stored in Creators Lens image storage hosted on Cloudflare R2 and served inside the app. Paired download recovery can also use video copies stored there.

Data is only sent to Creators Lens servers when it is needed to deliver a feature you used, such as saving a post, tracking a channel, or keeping thumbnails current for content already in your account.

What is NOT collected

The extension does not collect any of the following:

• Your Instagram or TikTok password.
• Private messages or direct messages.
• Content from private accounts beyond what you, while logged in, can already see.
• Payment or billing data.
• Your general browsing history. The extension runs on Instagram and TikTok pages for profile research and post tools, and on Creators Lens app pages for pairing. It does not build a record of unrelated sites you visit.

Data sharing

We do not sell your data. We do not share your data with advertisers or data brokers. Creator post data, profile metadata and images can be reused through shared Creators Lens caches for other users researching the same creator. When you use app features such as recreation, the data you send to the app is also covered by the Creators Lens Privacy Policy at https://app.creatorlens.ai/privacy.

Retention and deletion

Your pairing token lives in your browser until you disconnect the extension. You can disconnect at any time from the Settings page in the Creators Lens app, which revokes the token so the extension can no longer act on your account.

Local caches and the rate-limit log live in your browser and are removed when you remove the extension.

For post data, profile metadata and images already stored in your Creators Lens account, you can request deletion at any time by emailing bryan@creatorlens.ai. We will remove your data on request.

Changes to this policy

If we change what the extension collects or how it is used, we will update this policy and change the date at the top. Continued use of the extension after a change means you accept the updated policy.
